Bernard Riemann was a German Mathematician who has contributed enormously to many areas of Pure Mathematics. There is a whole branch of geometry called Riemannian Geometry, named in his honour. He was famously a student of the mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss and in 1859; Riemann proposed a mathematical idea called the Riemann Hypothesis. Now, over 150 years later, nobody has been able to solve his problem. The Riemann Hypothesis has been labelled as unsolvable and was named in 2000 as a Millennium Prize Problem. This means that the person that solves it will receive $1,000,000.
